I'm taking advantage of Colette's 60% off clearance sale on printed patterns. These are the last days of Colette printed patterns and that makes me sad. On to happier things: These lovely pins were in my orders! I'd been looking at the pins, but decided not to purchase. I was pleasantly surprised to find one in my shipments.

I have been making wonderful progress fitting the Cashmerette Upton dress!. I owe it all to Joi Mahon. I had been struggling with the FBA. I know. The irony of an FBA with Cashmerette. Here's the problem. As a pear, I have the opposite body type for the Cashmerette. When I purchased the Appleton dress and got confused about the measurements on the envelope back, I contacted the founder, Jenny. She broke the news about how Cashmerette was sized. She suggested I go with a size 20 to minimize the grading. I tried the 20 in all three cup sizes. All too big in the back, wings over the bust and too small in the bust. I kept trying to do a traditional FBA and then rotate the wing out of the armhole. The waist dart was my nemesis. I couldn't get it right.  Enter Joi Mahon . Her bust quadrant approach worked! Fresh Starts

It's been so long since I blogged about sewing. I've been gone so long, the blogosphere has changed dramatically:  We're in the age of the well-sponsored 'influencer.' Some folks I followed have stopped blogging. Podcasts are everything. Colette is moving to all digital. Periscope died. McCall, Simplicity and Burda are now one company. Plus-size bloggers went off on indie pattern companies and now sizing is starting to be more inclusive. Craftsy awesomeness has been replaced by Bluprint. Saddest are the deaths I've learned about in the sewing community: Nancy Zieman, Cynthia Guffey and Linda Faye Lewis. I loved Miss Faye's blog. My old blog was more about frustration than success.
